let's schunkel by Lizkay let's schunkel by Lizkay
as mentioned in the image file of this ( [link] ) I wanted to animate him a bit. ;)
Some may have seen him already sitting on the end of my journal ;p

GIF animation this time as it doesn't have many colors and the number of frames isn't too high. :D

:wave:

EDIT: well as all my animations, this was done in AfterEffects using puppet and simply rotate and scale tool ;)

Hmm, I am afraid I can't really remember and I don't have any program to check that now, I think it was something around 20.

This is so cute!

And I have a question, is AfterEffects like Flash? Or is it easier to use?

Thank you! :D
It's completely different, flash works with shapes, vector-like movements and so on, AE is a picture and pixel-based program, you have to work in at least double of the size your animation is going to be later on.
I have almost no experience with Flash so I can't tell if it's easier, but AE is very complex and I needed quite a while to get used to it ^^;

Oh, I see! Thanks for the info. Well, Flash seems easier for me though I find them both to be challenging, I haven't been able to make a decent animation on it yet OTL Also, one last question, I'd be really happy if you answered cuz it's something that I've been trying to figure out for a while now. When you draw the frames (ex, character in 2 diff poses) do you have to colour it all in one layer where the lineart is or is it better to colour them in diff layers? The program would be Flash btw.

Oh I don't think I explained well but I hope you can understand that.

When I create a base image, I usually have the lines on a seperate layer and the colors too, when I start to animated them I merge them together though, and I usually only draw one base image with one pose I use for the puppet tool animation for example.
I have no idea what would be better concering working in Flash, as I really don't use that program ^^;

how do you animate?

:iconlizkay:

I am using a special Program called AfterEffects where I animate my digital-arts ;)
I don't really have a default-way to work as it depends on what I want to animate ^^;

Nice job on your animations! They look great!
I was just wondering, do you make the hind legs on a separate layer as the body so they animate differently, then import each layer in AE to puppet with them?
I was wondering 'cuz i've only done frame-by-frame drawing animation and wanted to give this type of animation a go. Seems like the lazy way. XD

It's all an single file with legs, head, tail, etc. as seperate layers, I directly move in AE using various effects (sometimes just simple transform, puppet tool or meshes)
AE works with layers the same way as Photoshop does ;) so you can directly work in there no need to import them, you can also make pre-compositions for the whole body for example and then animate this composition as a whole too.
doesn't really spare you a lot of time though, I have to paint all areas as being 'visible' means I need his whole body, arm and leg parts you don't really see and so on... I still need ages to do animations ^^;
