... another one of these making-ofs, this time Transformers Animated Ratchet... same way of working as on the others. Sketch, half way traditional half way digital this time, than inking including the black surfaces using Vectors in Illustrator, as well, flat colors and shading including some overlay effects finally done in Photoshop.

Ive got one question, I mean, when Im working with the pen tool, I can't keep on dragging lined because when Ive made a bend, I can't get sharp curves anymore, how can you prevent that? It looks like you've stroked the whole piece in one time..
you mean when you made a bend and then wanna go straight again but instead your line goes all over the place?
if that's what you mean, hold the ALT key and grab the erm.....the.....erm......thingy*, drag in the direction you wanna go and done you are
*thingy: when you've drawn a line in illustrator, the point at the end has two lines sticking out with two squares at the end of those lines......that's a thingy XD
hmm, to prevent that you need to click on your last set point, for example, you draw a curved line and when you continue after a point set, it continues with another curve, (right?) to make an edge then instead of getting that curve continued just click on your last point again, (such a triangle symbol should appear) than you can make a new line with a new angle or just straight or whatever. That do only works out if you drag the lines in Illustrator (or Freehand) the pentool in Photoshop doesn't offer it that way... badly. you can line such a drawing in one time as well, using the freehand-pen tool but the results are really really bad. (wobbly...)
