English:
"From the 'Tale of the Brave' --and finally Gerrit reaches the mountainside, the banner of the king's town resting on his shoulder, snow and storm against him, his loyal steed for him, he reaches the top of the mountain. He raises the flag up to the sky, nobody can defeat them, nothing can stop them, because this sign lasts forever in the hearts of those he left... --"
sounds A TON better in german... Anyway, most of you will remember this image from the sketches I posted here for help and crits ( [link][link][link] ) Describes a Scene from the 'Tale of the Brave' which is a required reading in Äladhal, a basic book telling the story of how the people of Ädras became free and got their first king of the new country etc. etc.
Anyway, I do hope you like the final outcome, was really fun working on this, I used a different style for the painting in the end, as I didn't want it to end up too 'polished' there are still some sketch lines visible in the final artwork, but that is intentional

PS.: there will be a step by step file of this just need to prepare and upload it, will add a link later
Gosh, this turned out to be extremely awesome! Makes you really appreciate a good, evolving sketch and feedback^^ That flag sure is massive and well- decorated^^ *Wants one! Also, the horse's expression is something that really caught my attention, it's very dynamic and filled with emotion. The shading/coloring of the horse is most phenomenal and it has very soft feeling on it Hmmm, I would have expected Gerrit to have bit more clothing in such a cold weather, but since he's the flag bearer, he has to wear that ceremonial outfit and get flu while at it?
Marvellous work, I really love the final outcome Lizkay!
You did? Owh, I didn't even notice that at the first glance!^^ Well, I suppose that's kind of a true, simply no time for cold! I would be pretty stressed too, if I were in his boots. There be a step-by-step file later? *Really can't wait for that!
One of the rare paintings where I followed the sketch lines..mostly
